Daniel is a dedicated researcher specialising in cellular and molecular biology, with a strong focus on mitochondrial dynamics and disease mechanisms. He holds a Doctorate in Biological Sciences with a mention in Cell and Molecular Biology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where his research explored the effects of Charcot Marie Tooth-causing Mitofusin-2 mutations on mitochondrial fusion and fission balance. In 2023, Daniel joined the Horvath Lab at the University of Cambridge as an Associate Researcher under the guidance of Dr. Rita Horvath, contributing to the understanding of primary mitochondrial diseases related-myopathies. He has been recognized for his academic excellence and research contributions, earning awards such as the prestigious UMDF Accelerators Prize for advancing mitochondrial research and the International Postdoctoral fellowship from the Chilean National Agency for Research and Development.
